Federal Student Aid
information is available for Graduate/Professional students including loan counseling.
Military Loan Repayment Programs
- The U.S. military offers student loan repayment benefits to doctors who serve. For example, the Navy Health Professions Loan Repayment Program offers up to $40,000 a year in loan repayment for up to three years. Contact your military branch for details about your options.
Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship Program
offers scholarships to rural medical students in Mississippi who agree to practice in underserved rural areas of the state upon completion of their degree. The program is designed for students currently residing in rural areas of Mississippi who wish to return to those areas to practice medicine. Students are mentored throughout the program, from undergraduate to initial practice support and mentoring. Applicants must plan to complete an internship/residency program in one of the following primary care specialties: family medicine, combined medicine-pediatrics, pediatrics, general internal medicine or obstetrics-gynecology.
National Health Services Corps
is a federal program that provides scholarships or repays the educational loans of primary care physicians and other health care providers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentist and hygienists, mental health professionals and certified nurse midwives) who agree to serve a minimum of two years in a federally designated health professional shortage area.
