OMPW Hosts 2022 Graduate Medical Education Summit

The Office of Mississippi Physician Workforce (OMPW) sponsored it's fall Graduate Medical Education (GME) Summit on October 7, 2022 at Table 100 in Flowood, MS. The free one-day event was designed to increase participants’ understanding of key issues in GME through a combination of information sessions, practical advice, and GME updates.  

The summit was held in collaboration with Paul Foster Johnson, Vice President, ACGME Sponsor Institutions; Christopher Francazio, PKF Health Finance Consulting; Pam Royston, PhD, ACGME Field Representative; Teresa Camp-Rogers, MD, OMPW Scholarly Activity Coordinator; and Laura Gillenwater, CPA and Will Carter, CPA, Horne LLP.  

The conference provided a venue in which new and established GME leadership, faculty and staff, could network, exchange ideas, and identify tools to enhance their understanding of graduate medical education.

Topics included ACGME accreditation processes, rural and community based GME opportunities, GME Finance, and GME leadership roles and responsibilities:

• Rural and Community Based GME Program Opportunities
• Roles and Responsibilities of the DIO, GMEC, and PD: Oversight of the Clinical and Educational Work Environment
• OMPW GME Scholarly Activity Project
• IME/GME Payments Overview, Common Issues and Current Updates
