State Medical Associations and Agencies

There are many websites for medical associations that can help enhance your career and keep you informed of the latest news and information. We've compiled a list that can help. 

  • Community Health Center Association of Mississippi (formerly the Mississippi Primary Health Care Association) provides quality comprehensive healthcare in accredited medical homes. Our health centers provide care to over 280,000 patients within 187 sites throughout Mississippi’s underserved communities. CHCs are staffed by a team of board certified/eligible physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, social workers and other clinical and non-clinical professionals. MS-CHCs provide a wide variety of services including medical, dental, pharmacy, optical, social services, behavioral health, x-ray and laboratory, tobacco cessation, health and wellness, and transportation.
  • Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians is the state association of family physicians. It is one of the state’s largest primary care specialty organizations, with more than 1,030 members. The MAFP, headquartered in Ridgeland, MS, serves the family medicine community and provides a unified voice for family medicine. The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the MAFP’s parent organization, maintains a membership of more than 115,900 members in 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.
  • Mississippi Association of Medical Staff Services is a state-wide organization established to provide opportunities for continuing education and improve the professional knowledge and skills of people who are engaged in medical staff services, activities in healthcare, or healthcare-related organizations. 
  • Mississippi Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics - The MS Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is a professional membership organization of more than 340 Mississippi pediatricians, both primary care providers and subspecialists. As a 501c3 non-profit organization, the mission of the Chapter is to promote the health and well-being of all children in Mississippi.
  • Mississippi Chapter of American College of Emergency Physicians actively represents nearly 200 emergency physicians, residents, and medical students in Mississippi. 
  • Mississippi College of Physicians - Mississippi Chapter is dedicated to advancing the specialty of Internal Medicine in Mississippi through education and advocacy. 
  • Mississippi Department of Mental Health offers a variety of services for mental health, IDD, alcohol and drug addictions, and Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia. Enter your county here to find the nearest DMH certified service provider.
  • Mississippi Hospital Association represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. Over 100 hospitals, healthcare systems, networks, other providers of care and their 50,000 employeess
  • Mississippi Office of Rural Health works to help rural communities build productive health care delivery systems. The office administers three federal grants and is engaged in data collection on rural health needs, policy analysis and development, provision of technical assistance, health manpower recruitment, coordination of rural health interests state-wide, and support for rural facilities. 
  • Mississippi Osteopathic Medical Association represents the osteopathic physician practicing in the state of Mississippian promotes the public health, scientific research and improvement of the healthcare delivery system. 
  • Mississippi Psychiatric Association is a membership organization of psychiatric physicians, who diagnose and treat brain disorders and substance use disorders throughout the state. MPA strives to continuously improve the ability of our members to provide quality, evidence-based and collaborative psychiatric services to persons with mental health needs and their families. The Association advocates for the welfare of all those with mental illness while fostering the medically-based principles of psychiatry.
  • Mississippi Public Health Association promotes public and personal health in Mississippi and professional development of public health workers through advocacy and education activities. 
  • Mississippi Rural Health Association is a resource for professionals and advocates for rural health in the state and provides resources, education, and advocacy in support of rural health-related matters. 
  • Mississippi State Medical Association is the largest physician advocacy organization in Mississippi, representing nearly 5,000 physicians and medical students. Any physician with a license to practice medicine in Mississippi and any student enrolled in a Mississippi medical school is eligible for membership.
